The Cosmic Instruments Wavetable VCO is a versatile Wavetable oscillator that provides both a main oscillator and a sub-oscillator. Both of these oscillators can be controlled using a variety of different parameters. To get a sense of what the module is capable of, we have outlined the functionality of each knob and input jack below.
Knobs:
- Freq, the frequency of both the main and sub-oscillator. The sub-oscillator usually has a frequency that is either one octave above, one below or two below the main osciallator's frequency.
- Shape, changes the soundwave of the main oscillator. The 16 selectable soundwaves range from smoother sine-like sounds to more complex sounds with lots of harmonics.
- Fine, same as the frequency knob, but allows for more finer control over the frequency.
- Sub, changes the waveshape and/or octave of the sub-oscillator. There are 8 soundwaves to select from, plus an octave up, octave down and two octave down option for all of them.
- Glide, instead of the oscillator jumping from one note to another, the glide functionality allows for sliding between notes.
- Bitc, short for Bitcrush, which allows for reducing the number of bits, which adds some nice roughness to your sounds.
Inputs:
- Freq, voltage control for the frequency.
- Sub, voltage control for the sub-oscillator's shape.
- Wave, voltage control for the main oscillator's shape.
- Voct, voltage per octave control for the frequency. The module needs to be callibrated using the blue trimpots at the back of the module first.
- Sout, audio output of the sub oscillator.
- Out, audio output of the main oscillator.
