Vactrol Low Pass Gate

Electro-Acouistic Research has re-released a limited quantity, 4HP adaptation of the Plan B Model 13 Timbral Gate available either as a pre-assembled module or a kit. The M13 Mini is a faithful reproduction of the legendary Buchla 292 Low Pass Gate with additional circuitry added to improve the bleed associated with VTL5C3 LPGs in the amplified Eurorack environment. Unlike the original Timbral Gate, the Mini has only two operating modes – Low Pass and Combo (VCA and Low Pass Mode combined), with the VCA mode omitted. The M13 Mini was originally produced as a one-off for the Toolbox Modular Synthesizer used by Danny Carey on Tool performances. Available Dec 2022.

Completed modules are fully pre-assembled, calibrated and tested with standard EAR SILVER ALUMINUM faceplates. As with all EAR products, the M13 MIni has a one year warranty.

Kit modules have BLACK FR4 faceplates with GOLD FLASH GRAPHICS and require the purchase of SMT 0805, SOT23 and SOIC components. Prior SMT assembly skills are required.

Kit purchase includes a faceplate, a black colored Main PCB, a black colored Pot PCB, a 100K linear pot, one blue illuminating latching pushbutton, one Davies type 18T 1900H knob, three jacks, three jack washers, all associated pot/jack mounting hardware and the option of either with or without vactrols.

The main board is easily configured for a single VTL5C3/2 dual element or two VTL5C3 single element vactrols.
