4 channel pitch shifter with chord generation
The xVox Eurorack module is a four-voice pitch shifter. It can take in one note and pitch shift it to generate a four-note chord. It does this in real-time so changes in the audio input have an immediate effect on the sound coming out. There are four volt-per-octave (VPO) inputs to control the pitch shift amount for each voice.
.xVox has three different pitch shift modes that output notes that are musically related. This is why we call xVox a “harmonic” pitch shifter. The three modes are Pitch Shift, 7th Chord, and Progression.
In Pitch Shift mode the VPO inputs are quantized so the output notes conform to a chosen musical scale such as major or minor.
In 7th Chord mode the audio input is pitch shifted so the output notes are the root, 3rd , 5th , and 7th notes of a chosen chord structure. Chord inversions and drop chords are supported as covered in detail in the 7th Chord Mode section.
Progression mode, as the name suggests, generates notes that conform to a chord progression. This mode is based on the musical theory of the Circle of 5ths.
