S-380 Probability sequencer

Three-track 8-step trigger / gate sequencer

This is a three-track 8-step trigger / gate sequencer. Steps are generated according to its probabilities. 12 common memories (A-L) shared between patterns (more likely “probability maps”), step probabilities are displayed as bars (height = probability) or as numbers 0-9 (0 = never, 9 = always) or in hybid view (dot = never, numbers = probabilities, full bar = always). It can be used as ordinary regular 3-track trig/gate sequencer if 0 and 9 probabilities are used only (but some probability avoids common “machine” repetition by changing pattern occasionaly on selected beats).

Bottom line (menu) settings:

  • L: sequence length (1-8 step, 1 can be used for generating triggers with an probability set by one number, 2 for generating odd / even triggers with probability set and so on)
  • STAY / LAST / FIRST – reset behavior (STAY = first step is made with first clock after reset, FIRST = reset itself makes first step, LAST = reset itself makes last step)
  • B / N / H – display mode BARS, NUMBERS, HYBRID
  • 1-10ms or =IN – trig length 1-10ms or the same as input length (can pass gates)
  • X- / X1 / X2 – exclusivity of tracks, X- means no exclusivity (all three tracks can generate trigs at same time), X1 = only one track can be active at time, X2 = two tracks can generate output. Highest priority has the top track, priority goes from the top down.

There are two jumpers on board just behind out1 jack affecting cursor movement and value rollover. The top jumper sets rollover for cursor (pointing arrow, pattern numbers, menu and movement in edited pattern), bottom jumper sets rollover for step probabilities (reaching max. value and turning to the right holds max. value or jumps to min. value).
