HMR1983 - Polivoks Sawtooth-core VCO

Classic analog voltage-controlled oscillator with a sawtooth core and 1 volt/octave response. Features saw, triangle, and PWM outputs and a plethora of modulation inputs. Both linear and exponential FM are available, and the frequency control has an octave switch. This design is fully calibrated and thermally stabilized, and boasts an aggressive modulation character despite its stability. The triangle waveform is particularly characterful.

• Single analog oscillator
• Linear and exponential modulation inputs
• Voltage-controlled PWM
• Octave up/down switch
• Saw, triangle, PWM outputs

This device is part of the IRON CURTAIN ELECTRONICS system and is created in collaboration with Vladimir Kuzmin, the designer of the original POLIVOKS synthesizer. The module uses original Soviet integrated circuits in the exponential converter and temperature compensation circuits to preserve the character of the Polivoks design.

Jacks and Knobs

It has coarse (ЧАСТ. ГРУБО) and fine (ЧАСТ. ТОЧНО) frequency controls and a octave switch (-1, 0, and +1 octave).

The pitch can be modulated by two CV inputs - one has a fixed curve of 1V/octave and the other has a polarizer.

The thrid CV socket at the mid-left (ЛИН. МОД) is the linear FM input.

The pulse width can be set with the СКВАЖНОСТБ control and a CV.

A sync input is included as well - it's the СИНХ socket.
