Audio to video pattern generator
The Wave Comber is a Eurorack Synthesizer module designed to filter audio and produces sound responsive video patterns. Running unfiltered music directly into a video synthesizer produces a flickering mess regardless of how mellow the music is. The Wave Comber's filters are designed to solve this problem. The comb filter only passes frequencies that are harmonic with video frame rate. These are the frequencies that produce a stable image when used with video synthesis. There is an additional amplitude-wave filter that produces scrolling waves representing several seconds of audio amplitude.
The filtered audio runs to an internal video effect circuit as well as an external jack for patching to other modules. The video effect circuits create Rorschach lava-lamp patterns and overlay them onto a composite video signal. Both NTSC and PAL are supported.
