Lazer Phaser!

NEO TOKYO is based on a Djupviks concept which they are calling “LAZER PHASER”. The concept is about taking a more “standard” phaser duty and pushing it to the max using feedback amplified by several MEGAohms of resistance in the feedback path. Regular phasers can do this (in principle) by using intricate self patching with additional boosting, but Neo Tokyo gives you a fixed solution to this wonderful technique.

This method can get wild and out of control if you like that sort of thing. Neo Tokyo is also inspired by the manga Akira which was created by Katsuhiro Otomo and ran between 1981 and 1990. The first press of panels reflects this being a limited and unique run with AKIRA inspired artwork in GOLD on red.

Operation of this device is straightforward. There are 2 x inputs and 2 x outputs, and each channel has it’s own CV control. A master frequency knob controls both channels. Input 1 is normalled to input 2, so it’s possible to connect a mono signal and have stereo out (or even a stereo signal into both channels). The CV inputs are also normalled in the same way, and there is a reverse switch which causes the CV for channel 2 to be inverted from the CV in channel 1. This creates an alternating action between channels, and can also cause weird phases, cancellations and mayhem depending on the feedback settings!
