Starved 12AX7 tubes, forced to work in a +-12V environment, the target is not high fi or linear behaviour but heavy distortion on signal.
naked module with soldered pin to easily change the tube
:: smd version 100
:: thru hole version, with carbon com resistors and wima film caps 110
(in thru hole one, dual opamp TL072 can easily swapped - no soldering - with various OPA IC to have a fancier distortion behaviour)
available tubes (from me, just a little selection to taste... you can find 12AX7 (and 12AU7, 12AT7) on a lot of suppliers near you too) description is on standard work it can be defferent under this starving use
12AX7
:: JJ ECC83S - 9
"high gain & low noise"
:: JJ ECC803S - 11
"premium quality"
:: JJ 5751 - 10
"high mu, reduced gain, more articulated tone. tight bottom end, reduced hum and noise. highly recommended"
:: Electro Harmonix - Selected and matched - 15
"very low noise floor and excellent performance"
12AU7
:: Electro Harmonix - Selected and matched - 15
"It is a premium quality 12AU7 built to match the performance of the military-industrial original GE 6189"
:: JJ EEC82/12AU7, MATCHED BALANCED - 12
"Matched & Balanced selected premium tubes"
12AT7
:: Electro Harmonix - Selected and matched - 15
"Matched & Balanced selected premium tubes"
you can choose knobs
I can mount the panel in beautiful black face or raw aluminium, rear face, with no writings
I received new tubes tuday, 12AU7, 12AT7 tested, less gain of 12AU7 and 12AT7 becomes more "sine to square behaviour" with synth waves...
I'm planning to show some test, some scope shoot, it's not easy to do a useful and coherent comparison...
... so let's experiment !
