Signal Visualizer Module
The Lamplighter is an 8 channel signal visualizer for use with your modular music synthesizer. Signals are displayed
on an 8 x 9 LED matrix, divided into eight vertical channel strips of 9 LEDs each. Each channel strip is a digital
voltmeter displaying the instantaneous value of the corresponding input signal on a linear scale. Channels have a
number of user programmable settings used to shape the display behavior.
This module is best suited for monitoring low frequency signals. The effective range is from 400 Hz down to DC,
higher frequencies will cause aliasing. Appropriate signal sources include, but are by no means limited to:
Low Frequency Oscillator
Envelope Generator
Trigger
Control Voltage
Modulation Wheel
Pitch Bend Wheel
Joystick
If your source signal changes slowly the Lamplighter will help you visualize it. The module is accurate for its
intended purpose of visualization but not as a laboratory grade device and should thus not be used for scientific
measurements.
You can set the range, polarity, graph type and input source uniquely for each channel. A group of such settings is
called a Program. Up to 16 programs (0 - 9, A - F) may be saved in non-volatile flash memory for later recall.
Program #0 is special in that it gets loaded automatically whenever the module is powered on.
