ISD-1820 Voice recorder module on a Synthrotek blank
I have a few of these lying around and while building my portable 9v rig I thought I’d slap one of these in it. Search internet for ISD-1820 and you can pick some up cheap. There’s a link below for the data sheet which is clunky. The unit runs on 3.3v so I put a voltage step down chip on it which came from China via eBay. Link also below. The chip is on the back of the panel along with the 9v battery. There is a tiny microphone already on the unit and it is pretty powerful. I attached the cable that comes with the unit for the speaker, to the pins (5 and 10) attached to a switch to turn looping on and off. I added a 100k audio pot off of the speaker out which was attached to a 3.5mm audio jack. This way I can attenuate the loop from the panel without needing a mixer. Everything is mounted on a 8hp Synthrotek blank panel.
