CV / Gate interface for Korg Ms-20 or Behringer K2
This module has been designed to allow V/Oct CV and gate control of the Behringer K2 or the Korg MS-20 and has been tested on both.
V-TRIG or gate signals sent to the unit’s V-TRIG ins are converted to S-TRIG format at the outputs and can be sent directly to either of the TRIG-INs or the S/H clock of the K2 / MS-20. Two independent trig converters are included on the module to allow simultaneous patching.
Whilst the CV inputs of these synths do not work with the standard 1V/Oct CV control, the modulation inputs do. However, they are very difficult to calibrate which is where the CV part of this interface helps. Just plug the CV out of the MS-Control into one of the modulation inputs and turn the corresponding modulation level to maximum. It is then very easy to get perfect V/Oct control using the fine voltage adjustment on the MS-Control. Set up is very straightforward - you will just need a frequency meter or app (there are some free ones available).
The CV part of the MS-Control is completely passive, and the tiny amount of power required to run the trig circuits is derived from the incoming gate signal, so the module does not require a power supply.
Note: please allow your synth to warm up for at least 15 mins before setting up the CV adjust on the MS-Control.
