PLL-based multiplier and divider
The HARMONIC PLLASER is a PLL-based multiplier and divider unit with voltage control over the harmonic intervals. It will track an audio rate signal with adjustable accuracy.
The upper half of the PLLASER is the PLL based multiplier section. The multiplication ratio is set by a combination of the MULT control and external cv and is displayed on the MULTIPLY LED bar in both mathematical and musical terms. The TRACK, RESPONSE, LAG, GLITCH, and SPEED controls all affect the ability of the PLLASER to track incoming signals and can send it into sputtering lasers sounds or low pitched rumbles as well as provide a musical harmony to the incoming signal.
The bottom half of the PLLASER is the division section, the input is normalled to the output of the upper section to provide additional lower harmonics as well as bringing the laser contortions of the other section into a lower register.
The ratio of each section is voltage controllable, allowing for arpeggios and melodic sequences when an LFO or envelope applied.
This design is inspired by the SCHUMANN PLL guitar pedal and the HARMONY GENERATOR article by Paul Williams published in E&MM October 1981.
Voltage controlled audio rate analog harmonizer
MULT OUT provides upper harmonic intervals
DIV OUT provides lower harmonic intervals
Cascaded sections allow for both basic and unusual harmonic intervals
PLL based MULTIPLY section has TRACK, RESPONSE, LAG, SPEED, and GLITCH controls for altering the tracking response
CV control over harmonic intervals, allowing for arppegios and melody generation
CV control over LAG parameter
MULT SWITCH multiplies upper interval by 2 or 4, allowing for up to 32x frequency multiplication
Separate outputs for DIV OUT divided by 2 and 4, allowing for up to 32x frequency division
LED bars showing current harmonic intervals
