Stereo/panning VCA

Vertex is a stereo VCA based on the 3360 VCA. Like the Parallax it's optimised for stereo use but can be used as mono to stereo by patching a mono source to the left input. Four VCAs are used to give dynamic control of the stereo field, while keeping the audio quality excellent. Due to the 3360's characteristic of topping out at unity gain, if the Gain CV input attenuator is fully open the skew control allows an AD envelope to be shaped to a punchy AHD with the Skew control adjusting the length of the Hold stage. The Vertex also includes LED indication for monitoring the relative levels of CV being sent to the Left and Right VCAs.

Vertex can also be used as a panning VCA, by patching a mono source to the Left input. The Skew control now controls pan position, so the Vertex can be used to position or move a source in stereo space, for example if patching into the extreme left and right inputs on a row of the SoundStage spectral stereo mixer.

Vertex is also a very useful tool for laser or oscilloscope synthesis, as it can be used to quickly and easily control the amplitude of the X and Y signals without having to resort to using up utility modules.
