The Urei 1176 is a studio-quality compressor/limiter condensed into a compact chassis based on the circuitry of the famous Urei 1176, and like the 1176, uses a FET gain reduction element with a quick response. By utilizing four controls, it is possible to reproduce the nuances of a conventional compressor for musical instruments, while at the same time allowing precise control. A trimmer on the side of the chassis can be used to reproduce a range of tones, from a bright hi-fi sound to a milder pedal compressor-like tone.
