The TC Electronic Vortex is a versatile flanger, with controls for speed, depth, delay time (called 'Manual' by some flangers), and both positive and negative feedback (by turning the 'Feedback' knob clockwise or counter-clockwise, respectively). The 'Tape' setting offers through-zero flanging with signal phase-out, and the 'Toneprint' setting can be used with the Toneprint software editor to save a broadly customizable preset. The Vortex has stereo inputs and outputs which is useful, but be aware that the 'Flanger' and 'Tape' settings are not "true stereo" in the sense of separate modulations in the left and right channels. As is common in many "stereo" modulation pedals, the default Vortex settings render flanging in stereo by using a single LFO and altering the phase of one of the outputs. In seeking a true stereo alternative to these settings, I used the Toneprint editor to save a preset in the 'Toneprint' setting that modulates the left and right sides separately, and I've kept that setting in this pedal, though it can of course be replaced if you use the editor. This unit was used at home and has been kept in excellent condition, though it is missing one rubber foot on the back. Includes USB cable and the original box.
