Description

Up for sale, a Maxon CS-550 Stereo Chorus pedal in perfect working order. Featuring a circuit based around the Panasonic MN3207 “Bucket Brigade” IC, this late ‘70s-flavored chorus effect is bold and swirling. In contrast to the sterile chorus sounds of the ‘80s, the CS-550 has an edgy, almost grainy quality that maintains articulation and prevents wash-out.The CS-550’s custom-tuned oscillator circuit, based on the Boss CE-1, provides enough speed for authentic rotary speaker simulation, and just the right amount of modulation for a lush vibrato that doens’t cross over into queasy, sea sickness-inducing territory. The Delay Time control has a wide sweep, enabling the pedal to venture into Flanger territory and adding a resonant, hollow quality to the sound that's great for solos and lead work. A rear-mounted Blend mini-knob allows you to adjust the level of the Chorus effect in relation to the dry signal. The CS-550 also has stereo functionality, with true bypass switching.A unique feature of the CS-550 is its ability to create “spatial” effects that add dimension to your guitar tone without the traditional Chorus wobble. With Speed and Depth set low and the Delay Time at max, the 550 thickens your sound much in the manner of a double-tracked guitar, adding girth and life without excessive modulation. The CS-550 features outputs for mono, stereo, or inverted mono signal routing. This pedal shows wear on the enclosure, and the original knobs are intact.
