Up for sale, a Gamechanger Audio PLASMA Pedal High Voltage Distortion Unit, near-mint and complete with the box, manual, etc. A new, unexplored method of achieving signal clipping and monster buzzsaw distortion, this unique pedal features a central xenon-filled tube that produces distortion via a series of high-voltage plasma discharges, viewable via the transparent window. Singular both aesthetically and tonally, the PLASMA gives the user the ability to, as Gamechanger describes it, play “a bolt of electricity.”
Due to the PLASMA’s unique high voltage construction, the frequency response of the distortion has a character all its own, with a pleasing grainy sizzle to the texture that moves into sputtery, noisy sounds when cranked up. As soon as the electrical discharge within the xenon tube is interrupted, the PLASMA ceases to produce any output signal whatsoever. The resultant stop/start sound enables massive contrast ideal for a rhythmic staccato feel without any in-between noises and massive pick attacks, and the PLASMA is designed to work with guitars, basses, synthesizers, and even drum machines. The distortion itself has great harmonic transparency, able to capture even the most complex chords; the Low Frequency and High Frequency knobs have wide sweeps for EQ precision; and the Blend knob enables unique sounds and experimentation via combinations of Wet/Dry tones for punctuated texture and musicality.
There are just a few tiny marks on the enclosure, and the central transparent tube window is clean. The expected life of the xenon tube is 10,000 to 70,000 hours of active playing, and the tube is replaceable.
The original box and paperwork is included.
