Description

This is the only vintage version that was powered by 9v, so one battery or a standard 9v adapter. The power section is different compared to the earlier versions, but the effect section is essentially the same. Still revolves around a Reticon SAD1024 bucket brigade chip. This one needed a re-cap (some were dead), and the Filter Matrix slider was also shot - shorting out and trying to play both the manual and auto modes at the same time. It was very confused. After all that it needed some calibration of the three trimmers and now this is back to its Andy Summers glory. A previous owner moved the feedback trim control to the solder side of the circuit board. And for the uninitiated, the Filter Matrix switch is essentially a Manual/Auto switch. To the left is auto, which is the normal effect and all the controls are in play. Slider to the right and the LFO is cut out. In this case the pedal functions kind of like a cocked wah. Turn the Color control all the way up, and use the Range control to find the most interesting tonal space in the envelope. The Rate control does nothing in this setting. There is a surface rust spot on the front, and a previous owner drove a screw into the back cover for some unknown reason. I just smoothed that hole out and put in a plug. The battery snap looks to have been replaced by a previous owner as well. Otherwise in very good condition and (as these things do) sounds stunning.
