Rack Drum Synth
The RM50 features the high-quality sound of Yamaha's 16-bit second-generation Advanced Wave Memory tone generation system. Its wide selection of waveforms can be processed with programmable digital filters and an even broader range of parameters than our popular RY30 Rhythm Programmer, so rhythm voices can be created to suited any musical aim.
1100 Voices and 128 Rhythm Kits
In its internal memory the RM50 holds 500 preset voices, 500 partially editable variations, and 100 fully editable user voices. And to put all these voices to work, it also has 64 preset and 64 user rhythm kits. In short, there's plenty of room for rhythm variety.
Full Data Expandability
Three wave card slots make it possible to use additional waveforms and voices available on the optional wave cards released for the RY30, the SY77, and the SY55. If more user memory capacity is needed, a fourth slot accepts a RAM card that will store an additional 500 variations, 100 user voices, and 64 rhythm kits.
Optional Sample RAM Capacity
The RM50 provides the option of adding an expansion memory board with battery backup for use as sample data storage memory. This memory area makes it possible to dump samples to the RM50 and use them as waveforms to create original rhythm voices.
Internal Audio-to-MIDI Conversion
In addition to full MIDI implementation, the RM50 possess a built-in audio/MIDI converter and six audio trigger inputs that let you control the RM50 with analog controllers such as drum pads, drum pickups, or audio tape recorders. This makes the RM50 as useful to the electric drummer as it is to the MIDI system programmer.
