Digital 1V/Oct oscillator, simple to build and needs no calibration

8 Bit Waves II is a feature packed digital VCO for Eurorack.

• 12HP wide
• 42mm deep
• needs no calibration
• 1V/Oct and Pitch inputs with 10 bit resolution
• Octave selector knob chooses between 4 octaves
• PWM knob and CV input to modulate the square wave's pulse width
• Waveform knob and CV input to merge between Sine, Supersaw, Saw, Triangle and Noise wave outputs
• Unipolar CV waveform output between 0-5V
• Bipolar 10Vpp, +5 - -5V waveform output
• Square wave output
• Sync and Gate inputs
• choose Quantised mode to lock the output to a 12 note scale
• choose LFO mode to turn the module into a Low Frequency Oscillator
• MIDI Input and channel selection (plays one channel of a MIDI track monophonically)
• supplied with a TRS to MIDI Type B cable
• All inputs and outputs apart from 'MIDI In' tolerant of connection to +12V to -12V - will survive patching mishaps!

As the name suggests, the analogue output is created by a super fast 8 bit DAC. Because this is a digital VCO, it tends to be more resilient than an analogue VCO to ripples in the supply voltage, and requires no calibration.

The only big difference in performance between this VCO and an analogue one, is that the LFO output has some noticeable higher frequency harmonics and sometimes the steps between voltage levels are noticeable.
