Cycle instruments is the brainchild of Nick and Josh.
Nick is a music teacher and Josh was his student (many years ago).
After Josh left school they began working together on many projects that at their core had a fascination with music, performance and people playing instruments together.
Over the years both Nick and Josh fell deep into the modular synth world. And began discussing the design of a new kind of harmonic sequencer that would eventually become the Tetrachords.
It’s hard to say but these discussions most likely started around 2014, in 40degree heat outside Brisbane, Australia, after a big day of rehearsals at the Woodford Folk festival Fire event.
These discussions turned into ideas, ideas into drawings, drawings into prototypes and after many many years, a real playable instrument we now call the Tetrachords was produced.
Cycle instruments is a company born out of collaboration and we hope that the modules we produce help people jam, play live and make music together.
Cheers,
Josh and Nick
