I'm trying to learn about modular synthesis. I'm interested in the monome stuff, and the patches in the demo videos.
In the meadowphysics video here: , it looks like one of the in/outs is reversed. The yellow patch cable is plugged into the outputs for 3 and 4, and it looks like the input for Trig 3 is being sent as an output somewhere.
What's going on with this? I read the Quadra manual, and it didn't say anything about this. Is it reversing the envelope or something?...

Nice. Last night was a blast and a little frustrating at the same time. Completely different envelope format and the filters response to cv inputs seemed really sensitive to me. Nonetheless, I'm already thinking about more modules.

I've been tweeting knobs since the early 90's, albeit digital knobs. Mostly korg, native instruments, and omnisphere. I couldn't figure the math out in my head why would I want to spend so much money on an analog synth. 3 months ago I bought my first analog synth in the form of a minimoog voyager. It was too sweet of a deal to pass up. The sonic skyline was the limit, or so it seemed. Not even a full week in with this beast I was quite shocked at how limitless the modulation possibilities were on the voyager. Still though, there was an ever growing inspiration each day I started tweaking the knobs.
Tonight when I get home there will be a package with 1 - p.m. foundation 3.1 On top of this I have a happy ending kit from tip top audio, and a DYI buffered multi on the way. I am looking forward to growing my sonic palette as well as with this community.

yeah everybody seems to like the beat step pro, it is powerful and playable, but does not feel like real to me..
A word of warning with the Rene, it malfunctions on some PSUs. I have a Row Power and sometimes its a real pain to use tbh.
Yeah, a few places have Warps for "pre-order", but Olivier does not endorse these listings.
Detroit Modular originally had it as "end of October", but per Olivier: "I do not confirm this date".
They've since removed that part, but the listing still remains on their site. And here we are at the end of October.
I wouldn't start putting in any pre-orders until he confirms actual production, if I were you.

The metropolis is very nice and interesting indeed, but I would like to have hands on single 16, or more, step for sequences (8 steps would be nice just for the cv). The pressure point array is also very interesting too but again, is 3x8 only it would awesome to have also the option of 1x16 + 1x8 or 1x24 .
The space it's also a problem, for the sequencer I've planned something about 34hp, if it's worth I can sacrifice some utility modules and find some more space but not more than 2-4 hp...
The external sequencer it's a good option too, the beat step pro looks amazing! and in case I would also have space for other modules (SYNTHESIZER BOX from Pittsburgh Modular would fit lovely!).
Any other suggestion?

For 3hp, this is incredibly useful as both a sound source and a utility.
As an oscillator, it's a pretty straightforward sine wave, although the quantization switch is a nice afterthought. It only quantizes to 12-tone equal temperament, but what do you expect from something 3hp, anyways?
The slider action is smooth enough for its purposes, and I have yet to have any issues with it.
LFO mode gives you more or less the same function as VCO mode, except in the sub-audio range.
My only complaint with this module is that when in CV mode, the input port is disabled. This would have been a great chance to use the module as an offset generator, or even a quantizer. It comes off to me as a lost opportunity to really take this module to 11.
Still, at about $130 and 3hp, you can hardly go wrong.
Just make sure you have some +5v running to it...
If this module were simply five euclidean sequencers, it would be a damn solid module and an easy four stars. Instead, each channel can be used as a euclidean sequencer, clock divider, flop gate, multiplier, trigger repeater, clock source, or probability matrix— all for under $200! It's a veritable swiss army knife of clock and trigger tools, and complete with a sexy wood panel!
I'm normally not a fan of modules with menu systems ("If I want menus, I'll use a damn softsynth!") but the minimalistic presentation of the menu system for this module is completely unobtrusive to my normal workflow, and they even bundle a handy little cheat sheet that tells you the knob function for each mode. (I keep it taped to the base of my rack for easy reference.)
It features two clock inputs— one going to three output channels, and another going to two. You can also use the first input to clock all channels and use the Probability knob to add a little randomness to the latter two channels- or not. It's amazing the versatility you get from 6hp.
I bought this along with the Bastl GrandPa, expecting that I would be getting more use out of the GrandPa, but am finding the opposite to be true. I've had this module for two weeks, and can already hardly imagine a patch without it.
Post-Honeymoon edit: So I still really like this module and would probably never be without it, but I lately find myself wishing it had a Trigger Reset input— though I don't know where they'd put it since everything is so close together within 6HP. Oh well, I'd still highly recommend it.

It's good, but definitely needs some distortion or something after it. It does make that PE sound for sure, but it's a bit flat. Stick a Noise swash or something after it and it starts blasting.
Three position switch is cool, bottom most goes from a sine wave to harsh noise, so that's neat.
And using the CV inputs you can actually use it as a really harsh distortion itself
Apparently, submission for new modules seems to be limited to 104 HP, which is the usual maximum width for racks most mortals have. However the case/utility collection below exceeds that, going up to 120 HP:

This was my only BD module for a few months. I have read a few reviews from people who don't like it in comparison to the original 909, that its not punchy enough or such.
I really like the BD909.
As it has a very wide sonic character it lends itself very well to further modulation and mangling. Saturating or overdriving it with a VCA gives very varied results. If said VCA is controled by an snappy envelope in time with the beat you really start getting somewhere.
I feel it really shines when paired with a resonant filter, hp lp bp all give different results.
I like the dry sound of it also, but if you have not fallen in love with the BD909 try treating in like an oscillator and not an end of the line module.
Bought am module from @monokompatibel, it arrived fast and in very good condition. Sadly the module broke after a short time - surely not his or my fault, must have been a manufacturing defect. It was no problem to send it back and let him handle the warranty process with the original seller. Fast, pleasant and dedicated Trader. Big recommendation!

That's not what "frequency divider" means. In general it seems like a bit of a problem if users can't edit tags on manufacturer-approved modules, e.g. if new tags are added to the system.
