Given the age of this thread you may already know that this is a V2 of the original BI - 2 hp slimmer, a couple of extra CV inputs for Skin/Liquid (new)/Metal texture selection and Bass/Alto/Treble range. IIRC the knobs are attenuators now, not offsets.
As a Clouds owner as well, I too found the reverb to work well. Glad to see I wasn't the only one that thought that.
I look forward to seeing what ideas can come forward to create distinct textures with Clouds and it's voltage controls.
as many here, I am a complete newcomer to the world of modular synths. Nevertheless, I've been making music for some time already and already own an Analog Four synth + Octatrack Combo, which can do a lot by themselves. But I had been tempted to try out modular and so I did purchase some modules already.
This system is primarily aimed at granular/effect processing of external signal (from A4 or computer) and internal samples (I've got a Radio Music sample player on the way), as I fell in love with the capability of Clouds, around which I plan to build this. But then I figured out that the Analog Four has this great ability to send CV/Gate outs, which would spare me of buying a sequencer, so I thought it'd be nice to get an oscillator too. I quite like the strum-like sound of Rings.
I'm very much into ambient/experimental music (very textured, like Tim Hecker, Fennesz, etc.), so I'd like to ask for an advice, how to spice up the sound a bit. The sounds coming from Clouds treated via Batumi (attenuated by Triatt) are great, however I'd appreciate some more intricate ways how to build interesting sound structures. Maybe some random trigger generators to fire up snippets of sound from Clouds ... or maybe clock dividers to create interesting variations of the master clock provided by Analog Four? I don't know, I'm still a beginner, so I'd appreciate any kind of advice.
Thanks,
S.
BTW, I found Erica Black Hole to be redundant, as Clouds has great reverb as well and I won't find much use for it
So, I realize that I've got limited ability to "see" alot of the possibilities available in my modules.
I wonder what you would do if you had this modular in your hands?
I look forward to any tips or suggestions over making some original sounds.
Btw, how do you save your "patches" ? Sketch a Patch or Notebook? Love to hear more.

I have worked in the box for most of the last ten years. I had a good year and decided it was worth an investment in modular gear. I fell into the rabbit hole and filled out my starter travel case.
My ambitions are to expand and redesign the classic Roland and Moog sounds within my own rack. The Ripples module has really hit done it for me. MMF from SSF is another, this PING business is interesting.
Now if only I can wrap my head around Gates/Triggers and Unipolar or Bipolar and what it means to my output.
Sometimes, I do appreciate the engineering of a synth like a Juno-106, Moog Minitaur, or even Digital Synths like a D-50.
big thanks to you @Blender for making my life easy. i,m now the proud owner of your hand built turing machine mk ll magpie. great doing business with you and bigger thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

I like the idea that was mentioned above regarding annotation of our racks.
Along those lines, it would be great if we could add a text box, perhaps, on our Patch designs. I sometime have cables going off elsewhere (to a passive attenuator for instance) and if I could place a text box and run a cable to and from it, that would be great :-)
I know some peeps use effects pedals too, so, yeah, a text box would be great, if it is at all possible.
HI and welcome. All the modules you have listed are great choices and you cannot go wrong with any of them.
Do not expect to make the right decision and be set once and for all, though. As you go on, try things and learn, your views and needs will change. My general advice would be to go from few and simple modules to more complex and bigger, because: Once you mastered the simple stuff you will know why exactly you need the bigger/better/faster/more. And only then. Probably go second hand as you loose very little when you pass stuff on later. And there's always one more module you will want to try.
ENV: Maths vs. Rampage -- pick either. I guess there's a lot more people out there having experience with Maths and that's why you hear the Rampage being praised less. Did you watch the DivKid video about the Rampage?
VCO: Both Braids and the Black WT are great. Oh and I like the Pico because of its small footprint and price.
LFO: I started out with a big complex quad LFO with a gazillion features. Now I'm using this. Not saying Batumi isn't great, just that you will not need all of it on day 1.
VCA/CV tools: You will need both a mixer and CV conditioning , not either or ;-)
I'm getting great use out of thesetwo. They go a long way for very little money.
A personal note: Big complex modules with a deep menue holding a ton of options are great. They can also be a great obstacle when you just want to make some spontaneous music.
Now re-read that second paragraph ;-)
Cheers!
Hello all, and thank you for looking! I'm planning on expanding, and have a couple modules I'm planning on getting (I enjoy making meditative experimental/ambient, but also would like the ability to make complex rhythms/modulations), but am very stuck after that:
Decided on:
Clouds: Sample manipulation is very appealing to me, and I want to play with it past the "instant ambient" settings.
Ears: Plan on using this in conjunction with my Korg SQ-1 and other external gear.
After that, my mind races a few different ways:
LFO: The Batumi seems really excellent for an interesting modulation source, but the price makes it to where I am not 100%.
Maths/Rampage: Rampage looks really appealing, but everyone screams GET MATHS so much that it has affected me.
Phonogene: This module looks SO COOL. On the other hand, it's a lot of $$$ for cool.
VCA's: I have heard great things about both Blinds/Veils, but I'm not 100% confident of which one would be more beneficial in my small rig, especially going forward.
VCO's: I'm kind of set on an Erica Wavetable VCO/ Mutable Braids. The amount of versatility just seems to great. The Pico VCO is also a contender.
Filter: I haven't thought too much about this, but I do like the sound of the Manhattan Analog ma35.
So essentially: what would provide me with the most fun going forward? I plan on this building and acquiring many of these modules, but don't feel like making the mistake of "oh I bought this awesome module, but I can't use it without more voices/modulation/whatever."
Two features i would love to have is having the currency selection (selectable by the 'show price in $/€' links) and the region settings in the marketplace (show offers from All/EU/US/etc...) be saved locally on the device so i don't have to change them every time i reload the page. I don't know how many minutes or hours i spent by now just changing these settings after loading the page. Would be awesome if the site would just remember my favorite settings.
Just had a great experience with a purchase from @toneburst. Clear communication, great build, well packaged and everything as expected. Thank you so much!
Hey,
I have that problem sometimes too and I am wondering if racks should be automatically be locked on small screens in general.
Not sure if anyone is planning on an iPhone?
Thanks for supporting!

Yeah, locking on small screens would be great, unless someone is using a larger tablet of course.
I suppose I could always log out on my phone, which would sort out the issue short term...
And no problem re support. I have found your app to be so helpful in arranging my new module and planning possible changed in the future, so becoming a Unicorn was the least I could do.

This rack is designed to perform algorithmic sequencing of oscillators, dynamic per-voice panning into a stereo chain that will run filter -> VCAs -> z-dsp.
To be fit inside an Intellijel case.
I feel like maybe I don't have enough small utility modules (mixers/VCAs mainly), but I have 2 Distings to do some of that stuff.
This is my first eurorack design. I'm open to all sorts of feedback. Please critique!
I've only just got into modular stuff and this site has been really helpful. Yesterday I decided to sign up for a Unicorn account as a show of support for the work being done here.
I have a question... Would it be possible to add a simple toggle to lock/unlock racks for editing?
Reason I ask is, I have been coming to my account on my android phone and sometimes, when I scroll the page I accidentally move a module and it is a real pita to fix.
So, once I have finished tweaking stuff I think it would be great to be able to lock it so that I can't make any accidental changes.
Well we should have something to inform us of how many HP we have free on our racks and when you hover your mouse over a free space it should input the amount of HP free on the space! That would rock and would make my life much easier!

Took me a while but Space Guides, a similar function is now available.

Took me a while but Space Guides, a similar function is now available.
Hover over a module in the planner and see how much space is available to the left and right.
Works also on drag'n'drop, on all formats and 1U.
There is a Space Guides on/of function to disable it, similar to the Popover states.
