Wow, amazing update. Thanks so much.

Thank you so much!
It works like a charm and better implemented than i would have hoped for!

Would be nice to get this better implemented as I suspect it's only going to grow in use soon.

Thread: Change Log

1U support for Eurorack

Look here: https://www.modulargrid.net/e/forum/posts/index/757

Also: Layout of the module browser has changed a bit to better display 1U modules.

Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

1U Tiles are those small Euro modules which pop up so often in the module browser lately and, if added, make your rack look ugly.

Not anymore!
Finally we have multi row 1U support for Eurorack!

  • Click Edit Rack and check rows which should be displayed as 1U.
  • You can convert your existing rack to be partial 1U.
  • You can check multiple rows on any position.
  • You can still use the Optimize Rack Space function, 1U and 3U modules are optimized separately. The function is even recommend to "pre-sort" your mixed U rack.
  • If you add modules to the rack they should appear in the format adequate rows.
  • Most rack templates should look fine.
  • To search for 1U tiles check the checkbox in the module browsers advanced settings.
  • Everything should be backwards compatible, no need to reupload 1U modules.

This update is for everyone, another reason to not upgrade to unicorn, jeez..

ModularGrid Rack

Edit: 1U modules must be flagged in the database as such. Everyone can do this, so if you find an unflagged one please help.

anything new planned by Antimatter Audio?
I love the brain seed.

September 2115 update:

In real form, all 3 rows in the above cabinet are mounted from the Right to the Left, with the signal path following the same routing

Top row:
- the triple Serge / CGS bi-polar switch that is in the same DIY panel as the Turing Machine, is represented by another manufacturer, here
- I expect the TipTop Trigger Riot to arrive from Moog Audio, late this week

Middle row:
- the two Serge / CGS Universal Slope Generators are DIY and represented here by a different manufacturer
- the dual SSM2044 4 pole LPF is DIY and represented here by a different manufacturer
- the Synthrotek Echo is expected to arrive later this week

Bottom row:
- the hexInverter 909 Bass Drum and 909 Snare Drum are both DIY, represented here by different hex panels
- the Music From Outer Space VCO is DIY and represented here by a slightly different model from the CGS manufacturer

Other modules that are being transferred into this New Europeans euro rack from my 4U cabinets, include:

  • dual, triple Comparator from Serge
  • dual Voltage Processor from Serge
  • 2 more MFOS VCOs
  • 2 x CGS VCOs
  • 1 x Serge / CGS 8 step Programmer Sequencer with the Moog 960 Sequencer switches modification
  • 1 more triple Serge / CGS bi-polar switch
  • 1 x Serge / CGS 1973 VCF
  • 1 x MFOS 2 pole State Variable Filter

and quite a bit more but I've run out of time, for today.

nice setup :)
for dreamy drones all you need is math+shapshifter and maybe some reverb.

-- ghee hgt

Hey thanks, Clouds can handle the reveb rather well. I also have a Vermona Retroverb external of the rack. I am covered

The output on mine is set to an inverse-saw function with a cycle time of about 2-weeks. it's getting me by for the time being until I can be a better one. I hear the single version does works better than the dual version as the one half tends to leach off the other. Wish this had some external ins though.

Has anyone found a way to get it to self-oscillate yet?

Any help would be appreciated. Externally I have Elektron Rytm for drums, Vermona PerFourmer for more voices , and FutureRetro Zillion for more sequencing.
I am interested in dreamy drones with Rythmic accompaniment.

Thanks for the help. :-)

Don't let me talk you out of anything - the only reason I backed off of a full Maths was I wanted room for a few other things in the limited (126HP) space that I've got, so I opted for a Function plus the WMD/SSF SPO as an attenuator/attenuverter. There's a lot of folks who swear by Maths, and for good reasons. And for what it's worth, I really wanted Clouds as I love the sound of what you can do with it so I bought it. It hasn't arrived yet...

Thanks for your thoughts, I see where you're coming from with a lot of it. Maybe Maths isn't necessary and I could get something smaller. I could also rethink whether I need Clouds and the Echo and maybe free some space for a utility. Cheers dude

I'm also in the process of building my first rack - and I can say that I've made a number of the same choices that you have (Disting, Clouds, Tangle Quartet).

From my travels on the various forums, I've learned to ask "What sort of music do you want to make" as a way to qualify any recommendations. Another question is "how many modules can your bus boards support". For example, I had a max of 17 modules that draw current on mine ModularGrid Rack

The things that jump out at me are:

  1. There are smaller envelope generators around that you could look at, such as Pip Slope, which would free up some space. You are getting a really good envelope generator with Maths - it's possible this module isn't really necessary, but you have it hear for a reason, so maybe it is.

  2. Clouds could be considered to have an echo function ( see http://mutable-instruments.net/modules/clouds/manual ); that said, the Synthrotek Echo is terrific. There's been some cool work combining it with a Ginko Grains oscillator you might want to look for. It's a neat pairing. My Clouds is on pre-order right now, if you want one, act soon. They sell out quickly.

  3. I can't help but think that Braids and Warps is a little overkill at this point. I got advice to include the Intellijel Dixie II as a compact, characterful VCO/LFO. That said I've got my eye on both of them.

  4. One area where everyone designing their first racks runs into trouble (and I"m no different) is leaving out utility modules, like Mannequin's Cold Mac or WMD/SSF Tool Box. I went with Cold Mac, but I'm also looking at Tool Box for my second set of modules.

You'll get a lot of feedback but at the end of the day this instrument is about what you want to do, so take everything with a grain of salt. If a module doesn't work out, the advice I've gotten is to put it down for a while then come back to it, as sometimes these technologies reveal themselves over time.

Building my first rack and would like some opinions on any ways to improve or things I should change? I only have Telharmonic so far so plenty of room for change. Please let me know your thoughts :)

I bought a PEG from GRIEVE and i am really pleased with this deal. Jeremy was very helpful, the PEG is like new, packed in its original box and delivery accross the ocean took less than a week. thank you Jeremy and if i had the money, i'd be buying more items from you.

That is no spam. That where some faceplates I guess the manufacturer didn't want to see on MG, so he uploaded default images to overwrite them. Modules are now unlisted.

Thread: Marketplace

you mean to add a generic module called Want to buy? That will look very makeshift but interesting idea... somebody already uploaded a wallet module :)
There will be some issues like it's not possible to search in offers and it will be easy to pollute the marketplace with random junk. Also the question if a Quasimidi Raven belongs to Euro or MU
Let me think that through, I am not sure if this idea is bad or genius...

-- modulargrid

No that would be genius in a way indeed, but also super messy and pollute the DB as HELL. The thing is We have a Marketplace to put our items on sale and people browse and see if someone is selling something interesting. You could add another "page" "section" "area" that would be Want To Buy where users would as they put modules to sell, make requests to someone sell them an item. Many times you see someone saying "looking for X Module" and you have it and you kinda think... well i don't use much, perhaps i'm going to sell it to this guy who is looking for it.
So The Marketplace would be 2 different sections, the actual one would become For Sale and a new one "Want to Buy" where users can request. This actually makes it a true Marketplace. When you go shopping many times you ask "Do you have this item on stock?" because you don't see it or anything else... Same here :) (for example right now i would like to buy a used Intelli Shapeshifter if anyone is willing to sell it).

As for the Racks, Cables, PSU/Power... It's kinda easy for Cables as you only have 4/5 brands and dif sizes. As for PSU it's the same... true you have some PSU Modules like 4MS Power 40 or Synthros Deluxe 5A... but there are also Intelli bus+power, make noise, doepfer A100 PSU, Clicks and Clocks A100 Psu, etc... there are some options but not that much. (Once again i have 3 Click and Clock PSU to sell and it would make my job easier to have a place like the market place, instead of having to put inside a module for sale that I have more stuff to sell). I lost a huge deal on Stackcables because i saw the ad from the guy, but didn't notice the "other stuff"... The poor guy wanted to sell Stackcables and had to do it inside a module he was selling... If he had a right section or item created in DB to sell it... It would've been super easy.

As for the cases... it's too hard. There are generic brand ones... like Ginko, Elite, Enclave, Doepfer... but the custom made and stuff it's impossible.

Let me know what you think :)

@modezart send me a very well packaged Drum Dokta. Nice communication, all good! : ) Cheers!

Cases, PSU and Cables are also part (and most important) of Eurorack.

no doubt about that.

One thing that's easy to implement and would be also interesting in my opinions is to have a "Want to Buy / Looking to Buy" part that would allow users to ask for a module they want and someone do an offer. This would be MUCH WIN.

What you think :)?

Yes, 1u is pretty much a euro thing. One option is to specify how many 3u and 1u rows to add when making a case. But it would be tricky to arrange. Some 1u is on the bottom, and some on top.

Would be nice to get this better implemented as I suspect it's only going to grow in use soon.

Would love to see some additional searching options:
- Filter by odd hp only modules - mega useful for filling up gaps created by Harvestman, XAOC Poti, etc. :)
- More categories/tags for modules lumped together under 'effects' i.e. reverb, bitcrusher, etc.
- Filter by 'still manufactured'
- Filter by 'requires 5v'

-- jbox5

All good ideas, some of them like the still manufactured already in the pipeline.
I have added Reverb to the Tags, that was easy :) I don't think there should be too many tags, we should summarized them in a useful way...

A rack format for 1U tiles would be great!
Or a least enforcing a standard on how to upload them.
-- bj_gzp

Yeah, the way it is now really sucks. I really wanted to merge them into Euro, but that will not work. A 1U rack format would be easy, but I think people won't be happy with that for planning... 1U is always attached to Euro or am I wrong?

Also would like price in GBP in addition to USD/EUR but I'll live if that doesn't happen :)

@brainalien great seller, fast shipping, all well taken care off! Trusty guy :) Thank you mate!

Switched cases. Moved from my 12u mx104 into a 9u @ 126hp Suitcase style case. Loving the single unit.

Thread: total feces

this rack is composed of three different cases:
upper left 9Ux84hp
bottom row 3Ux104hp
upper right 6Ux84hp

Well I can't remember all the people I sold modules, but if they see this post they can talk about their experience which I think was 100% trustable, fast and nice :) (please pronounce yourselves :P)

Edit: found them! @aze_007 @StefanoSansano were all good buyers, paid right away and nice!
-- AThousandDetails

Thank you @AThousandDetails for the fast shipping. Great Seller!

Just tested the Octature 2 filter I bought from @tritata : great seller !
a few hours after payment, I had the parcel's tracking number.
Two extra cables given with the module : very kind !

Any idea on adding these?

Just received a nice MN Renè from @Nomodulus. Super smooth transaction. Thank you!

I bought Sound Machines LP1 Lightplane from @bj_gzp , super fast reply and shipment! Packed really well and module was like new. I recommend doing business with him. I know I will. Thanks!

Had a fabulous transaction with both @A.S. and @AThousandDetails. Extremely fast shipment and all was packed and received very well.
Thanks, guys!

some modules contain USD price information approved by the manufacturer, but when EURO display is activated, the prices just get "converted" even though it's often impossible to get the module for that price
-- charonme

I see. The conversion only happens when no EUR is in the database. Problem is, when the module is approved only the manufacturer can change data. I will drop him a note...

Beep, Bopp, Bleep: info@modulargrid.net

some modules contain USD price information approved by the manufacturer, but when EURO display is activated, the prices just get "converted" even though it's often impossible to get the module for that price (even 2nd hand used) in EU, for example https://www.modulargrid.net/e/make-noise-richter-wogglebug-2014 the actual EURO price is 275 eur

NB The EMW module is meant to be an "Arcade Noise" shift register thing but it isn't on modulargrid yet so I used another EMW 8HP Module.

I'm very much new to the world of modular, but am very adept when it comes to synthesis, be it digital or analog. I also have a keen interest in effects, and the modulation of said effects in creating weird sounds to add to my angular songwriting based approach.

With that in mind I've put together an interesting Eurorack to complement a DSI Pro 2, Korg Mono/Poly, Minibrute and a slew of drum machines, digital synths and pedals, so that's why there are not many filters in the rack, just the wasp one which I felt was interesting.

If you can see any massive problems within the rack that would stop it working, then please let me know. Hopefully I've had a good stab at this for a first go, and I think it looks fun :)

why isn't make noise selling the cv bus without their system?

Thread: My Artrack

This is such a cool looking rack. Looks really fun too.

Thread: Bug Report

Module name searches should probably be accent-insensitive.

For instance, when I search for "magnetosphere", I would expect to see https://www.modulargrid.net/e/eowave-magnetosphere.

Marciii !

Tu peux le mettre il est là ->
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/music-thing-modular-mikrophonie-

Oui !

After learning the basics, I'd like to start adding things to get more rhythmic sounds and patterns, not necessarily drum sounds. Bring on the glitch, for sure. What would you add to go in that direction?
