Unfortunately, I have to report back with negative opinions: none of the oscilloscopes linked above are, IMO, suitable for monitoring signals like a Mordax DATA or VCV's Scope can do, they are like most VST oscilloscopes I've tried, focused on monitoring audio waveforms specifically.
I'm reverting back to VCV, until someone finally comes along and makes a better one. If I'm desperate enough, I might pull the VCV code and see if I can make my own version that allows zooming...
Enjoy your spare HP, don't rush to fill every last space, this is not like filling sticker books. Resist the urge to 'complete' your rack, its never complete so just relax.
Have you ever heard of murmurations? it's one of the most magical things
I have ever seen in nature. Murmurations are huge groups of starlings
that twist, turn, swoop and swirl across the sky in beautiful shape-shifting clouds. With this patch I wanted to capture in music what I felt when I first saw a murmuration. Enjoy the music!
Just checked back in here and I just wanted to say I started my post reply before I saw your reply with the menu dive comment and wasn't being contrary
The entire site and the screenshot server moved to a new faster server. It's now cloud everything 16 core/64GB RAM with SSDs and whatnot. All the server software (Linux, PHP, SQL, ...) was updated, we have a web firewall, the screenshot software was rebuild from ground. Still some hiccups here and there but overall it went well.
We lost the www in front of www.modulargrid.net. The site is now just modulargrid.net (as if anyone would ever notice).
I like the marbles a lot.
I guess its the most complex and easy to use random module, while you have Instant access by tweaking knobs.
If you understand it you can archieve incredible results.
The selfpatching abilities are great and you can get endless evolving random cv and gates.
The fact that it is like a kind of turing maschine comes really handy and makes it very playable.
Another idea cold be clank chaos.
Chaos seems to me more drastic and chaotic. You get a chaotic random mess and can thin out the chaotic cv and gate results afterwards to fit it to be less what you not want and to be more musically.
It has also a cv looping feature and got a sequencer ability in the new firmware.
I have both and enjoy them.
I use the marbles to dial in controlled random for basic and dominant functions. The chaos I use for glitchy, unpredicted and wild random.
Hello,
do you consider adding original Roland 100m format for us, oldies from the 70's/80's, being able to rebuilt our vintage setup using Modulargrid ? Or Maybe, since the format is quite similar to MU, just add the brand Roland officially on the format and 191j rack picture so we can participate by adding the modules information one by one.
Please add S3n0Я to the list of manufacturers. There are 19 modules of theirs already on ModularGrid, all still under "other/unknown". Thanks in advance.
Perhaps describing Marbles as a "menu dive-y" module is not a great description, rather "feature-rich" would be better. The more I watch tutorials on the thing the more I begin to understand all its components. I can see how many of the functions are incredibly useful, but in practice with my particular rack, there are quite a few I would not have a use for, in my head at least. The thing that gravitated me towards the Mavis/TTxB modules in the first place was how simple and straight-forward their design and function was, as in "this particular module does this and this only."
I would say I'm more open to the idea of a Marbles than I was before, but still skeptical. Maybe y'all can convince me all the way haha!
I would like to visualize complex Lfo or envelope curves from my Eurorack in Ableton. Is there a virtual VST/Max for life (4 Channel) oscilloscope that can represent these slow courses? Like a Max Data but as an plugin?
Volca Drum seems a great idea.
How about controlling the Volca Drum?
I had a Volca FM once and I found the parameters hard to access and menu divey.
So I guess it could be similar with the volca drum?
-- VONDENFUNKEN
Volca Drum can be a performance tool.
There is no really annoying menu diving.
The Microfreak might be a good synth option. Tons of synth engines (including Plaits and Noise Engineering sounds), a decked out mod matrix, and a few sample-based synth options to do some of the more complex sample manipulating/playing elements from the Blackbox as well. 4 voices and an analog filter to top it all off. Hard to beat in a smaller setup - especially when it's so tactile.

drums should be covered
Any idea for a small synth voice?
Softpop 2 is quiet expensive (I will leave it out)
Right now Im thinking like this:
drums: elektron: samples + volca drum (remove the dfam)
FX: Mood MK II (reverb, delay, looper, granular)
small synth voice: ?
small mixer: Bastl Bestie?
I could add a bluebox and blackbox later, but still to expensive right now.
Thank you for your answers. For the noise I already have the second channel of the twin waves. I'll try the wave animator for the first channel of the twin waves. Thank you for taking the time to respond.
For a groovebox-oriented setup, powerful but without too much complexity, the choice of Model:Samples seems excellent to me. And, at a lower cost, I would add a Volca Drum for totally different sounds. This amazing little box is like a small percussive synthesizer. And indeed, I would complete with the Blackbox for an opening towards wider sampling. Plus your DFAM... let the show begin!
Im thinking about to take a break from modular for the moment
things start to become to big and complex for my brain right now (while I have to focus on other non musical stuff)
For the meanwhile:
Im looking for a small performance setup which is small and easy, maybe just focusing on up to 3 devices or so.
So im asking for some ideas and tips for a non modular or hybrid setup - maybe some groovebox or drummaschine oriented setup. minimalistic, easy to use without to much brain cells involved :D
This is my first attempt:
(I have the DFAM and Mood MK II, not the rest)
(Sry, the rack doesnt shop up directly, because its a "pedal rack")
Thanks for asking, initially I would be looking for someone who would buy all of them in one go.
Although, I realise this is asking a lot!
I am not desperate, but if it comes to separating them out, I would do the same with all my listings and set prices at an average based on past selling prices here and elsewhere, fair. I am always open to (sensible) offers too!
p.s. everything is mk II except the polivoks stuff and the mk I Double Andore of course!
Over £200 raised so far which is amazing, however I am looking for more donations as there are always more hungry people - sadly this is true even in 2024.
All the music is free - please enjoy!! You can even download the high quality wavs - completely free - just enter zero!
However, if you can find your way to spare the price of a coffee, a patch cable, heck, even a small or even big module all proceeds will be donated to a food hub that provides hot meals to anyone no questions asked.
Yes - 100% of proceeds, absolutely no financial gain on this release!!
This is music by the people for the people - no corporations apart from PayPal taking their cut - no profit - nothing - just an hour of honest to goodness musical awesomeness!
but hey, maybe you don't have any money at the moment - it happens!
but it is okay, you can still contribute because this is an open project - forever, anyone can do a remix and it will be added to the EP.
there are no rules except you must enjoy yourself, have fun and be willing to donate any and all proceeds to the food hub
are you up to the challenge?
Even if you can't donate, or do a remix, maybe you know someone who can?
Thank you very much to everyone who did a remix, Robert Logan, Default Media Transmitter and 10,000 Leagues - you are 100% AWESOME!! Here are their respective bandcamp pages - some amazing stuff here:
A breathtaking crescendo/decrescendo. And while the form itself isn't totally new, within this framework, what this modular achieves is unparalleled. Brilliant!
Yep, thanks @JimHowell1970 this was my fear when there is only a tiny pot to work with.

Between Pam's, Maths, Harlequin's Context and O_C, there are a lot of Disting functions which it might seem like other modules already cover. Nevertheless, there are some unique and interesting algorithms to explore. The shift registers (F5-F8) are a good way to introduce some "controllable" randomness into your patch. I've had fun with the Wavetable VCO (K1), and loading wavetables on the latest firmware is much easier now. Also, the waveform animator (D3) can bring richness and depth to an otherwise thin VCO. Also, I'll second what @Sweelinck said about the H7 Noise function; it's great.
TBH I was in the same boat with my Disting for a while. It was stuck on the delays for a long time before I just decided to pick some functions more or less at random and explore them. Even now though, it is still mostly an effects processor. However, these massive and deep modules are good to understand because they allow you to get an idea and think about how you might approach it. There have been a few times where I was thankful for a good precision adder or yet another quantizer. I guess I just mean that my favourite patches have been weird and not quite standard. Knowing the module helps you chase a sound or even surprise yourself... the joys of modular :-)
Im doing Techno, and using modular for two reasons :
1. Sound design - unique leads and a textures
2. Rhythm - random gates and happy accidents
this is my current setup:
Very happy with it but i plan to make it happier by adding additional rack with:
Hexinverter or Verbos complex osc
Verbos Amp and tone
Verbos delay.
Verbos Bark filter
Now, all of these models i can try before at the local vendor. So i will test them before.
However i do have thoughs about the Bark filter which is the exact same size as Piston Honda AND Hertz Donut, which the local vendor don't have.
I know differet things but in the same category of sound design, from what i saw online it seems that the bark filter + delay + A&T is great combination, but Piston/Donut i think will have more sound design options....
A Serge ResEQ could be fun. Or maybe even a QPAS. A filter in general would be nice.
Another good idea would be a 2hp dual sample and hold. If you put audio into the main input and then trigger it at audio rate as well, you get a simple but cool voltage controlled downsampled/"bitcrush" effect (in stereo if you use both).
