Hey Garfield,
Thanks again for your feedback, glad you like this track. The high clicks are hats from the Nord Drum and yes, now that you say, they might be a little seperated from the rest of the mix. They stand out, so to speak. This a question of taste... or unprofessionalism on my side :) No hard feelings here and I appreciate your feedback on this as well. I always try to learn. This track may make it to my next release and I'll definitely mix it again before it happens. Thanks again Garfield!
All the very best, G

Hi Garfield,
Thanks for your feedback (as always :) ). I was close to selling the Planar but with the arrival of the Benjolin it's found its way back to the rack. I'd say it's easy to use, especially as a 4-channel vector mixer and also as a mod source when fully loaded (all input channels busy and all..). The joystick comes handy every now and then but you don't have to tweak it, CV in mods can do some tricks there. The Planar v2 has even more tricks up its sleeve as you can records the "animation" process then play it back.

Here's another track with the Benjolin, this time a more elaborate one. The OP-1 is again in use - anything that inspires me on the long run becomes a part of my setup :) I was luck bastard 6 years ago when OP-1s went for "only" 800 euros new - now they are 1400. Just plain crazy.
Thanks and cheers, Gabor

This one is more on the classical side, at least within my realm.

Thread: Midsommar

Thanks for your feedback, Garfield. I came upon several insects during filming ( "filming" sounds like an overstatement here - I made the clips with my iPhone SE when I took the dog out for walks to the forest near our home :) ) and three of them made it to the final cut. I call them "the living", "the stuck" and "the dying". Go figure. Weeks ago I stumbled upon a baby forest snake who was squirming away into the shadows, I made a short clip and have forgotten about it - too bad, a snake has some many meanings. She could have had a part in this forest-short. Anyways, maybe I'll make a "snake-only" piece. next time :)
Thanks again and all the best,
G

Hey Garfield,

I'm glad you shared this. The track has air and space in it and yes, it breathes, in a good way. As for recommendations, I have none and I don't think you need any. Just do your thing, with our without percussion. No rules here or if there are, you, we shouldn't care. As long as you create something, you're good, we're good. Takes one year to create something? That's OK. Takes only 10 ten minutes? That's just as OK. All in all, keep them tracks coming, is all I wanted to say. :)

Cheers,
Gabor

My first attempt at an experimental short with ambient music composed on eurorack. I apologize for the standard youtube quality.

I was expecting something weird out of this but it got even weirder. Not everyone's cuppa tea and there's definitely some pun intended :) Details in the video.

Thread: DivKid Ochd

ochd was an instant love for me. Like others here, I use it in most of my
patches.
Here ochd modulates mostly the Morpheus filter.

Hey Garfield,
Thanks for your feedback and kind words - I'm kinda humbled and in all honesty, while I may have some percussion-skills, I am not overly talented. Back in the day I played drums in a band or two but as it happens I'm just about to sell all my drum gear. I'm more and more attracted to electronic percussion though, I think, if done with feel and good timing, "not programmed percussion" can make the whole set a litte more organic. If I ever make it to the stage again, I'll have the Nord gear up there with me. As for this video, my time and groove were not the best, thanks to the camera, I'm much better when it's not rolling :)
Thanks for the tip on Die Wilde Jagd, I listened to a few of their tunes and I love what I hear. I'd say at points it's krautrock reinvented, other times it's pure experimentalism. And I love German lyrics, eventhough my German skills are weaker than I'd like them to be. Still, my long-time favs include Einstürzende Neubauten and Rammstein :)
My recommendations: Electro Guzzi (a trio from Austria I guess, they play techno-ish tunes on mostly regular instruments, the Nord Drum+Pad included :), and Brand Brauer Frick, another band with classic/traditional instruments playing very tight, "programmed-like" music. I love when there are no rules in music and diverse universes meet in harmony :)
Thanks again and alles cute! :)
Cheers, Gabor

Hi Aphew Goodman,

Wow, that's super cool! I love the percussions in this track, however beside your nice percussions, the other sounds, those make me smile and here and there I had to laugh :-) It doesn't happen many times that I have to laugh during listening music (which I do see positively) but you can make that happen! So many nice and happy sonic surprises in your music!

Well done and kind regards, Garfield.

I guess I love the new Disting Ex :)

Hey Garfield,

I pre-ordered the Disting EX from Signal Sounds in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago (Jason said the new stock had been sold before the units arrived in his store) so I guess I was lucky (and impatient ;)).
As the tagline goes, the EX is (also) like "two souped up" mk4's because some mk4's algos have been reworked and now have much better audio quality and processing. To me though it's the single modes that make the EX a wonderful module. I thought the Matrix Mixer is something I'd never want to use but the 6 inputs/4 mix outputs and 60 (!) tweakable parameters turn the EX into a complex CV/audio mixer. Then there's the SD Multisampler which I was tweaking last night (plan to post a video demoing that algo as well) and I find it so awesome (up to 8 voice polyphony, polyrhythms, etc. - and it sounds great!), the Augustus Loop stereo tape delay is also very complex. And there's a lot more to discover here. The tiny OLED is really useful and with the EX you can't escape menu diving but it's quite convenient and with 256 presets on board you're pretty much covered.
Like I said I still have two mk4's and plan to keep at least one for good. It's simply too good a 4 hp module to let go of. If one can afford it, having an Ex AND one or more mk4's is fully justified, imo. Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Gabor

Got the Disting Ex yesterday and I'm kinda blown away already. I thought the Matrix Mixer algo will be the last one I'd touch but after patching all the six Just Friends outputs into the Ex things have changed for good. Initially I planned to buy an Ex and sell both the Disting mk4's I have but I decided to keep the whole family together. Here's a track + video I made last night.

Cheers to you all.

Hey Garfield Modular,

Thanks for your feedback, glad you listened to and liked some of my tunes. I recorded all the tracks with my modular rack + a Nord Drum 2, which I triggered with either the Just Friends or Pam's New Workout.
And for sequencing I primarily used the OP-1.

Thanks again!

Cheers,
Gabor
